Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 10 drops red food coloring or 1/4 tsp coloring gel
  • 10 drops blue food coloring or 1/4 tsp coloring gel
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, plus more if needed

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs and mix well.
  2. Sift in flour, baking powder, and salt; combine until a thick dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  4. Divide chilled dough into three equal portions. Color one portion red, another blue, and leave the last plain.
  5. Take small amounts of each color dough, gently combine them into balls, then roll them in powdered sugar for added crinkles.
  6. Place on prepared baking sheets with space between each ball and bake for about 12-14 minutes or until tops are crackly yet soft.
