Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 50g sugar
  • 10g salt
  • 10g dry yeast
  • 250ml warm water
  • 250g unsalted butter, chilled
  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and dry yeast. Gradually add warm water until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until elastic. Cover and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  3. While rising, place chilled butter between parchment paper and roll into a rectangle (20x15cm). Chill again for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough into a larger rectangle (40x30cm) and encase the butter inside. Fold and roll multiple times to create layers.
  5. Cut into triangles, roll them up, and let rise again before baking.
  6. Preheat oven to 200°C. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
