  • 1 medium yellow onion; diced
  • 4 tsp. garlic; minced
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 28 ounce can fire roasted crushed tomatoes
  • 15 ounce can kidney beans; rinsed and drained
  • 15 ounce can black beans; rinsed and drained
  • 15 ounce can pinto beans; rinsed and drained

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add diced onions and minced garlic; cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in ground turkey, cooking until fully browned (about 5–7 minutes).
  3. Mix in brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and tomato paste. Stir well.
  4. Pour in beef broth and crushed tomatoes; add all three types of rinsed beans. Scrape any bits from the bottom.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Adjust consistency with water if needed before serving hot with your choice of toppings.
